Last week, the OpenIT4Africa team reunited to host their very first 5@7 at the Notman House, the well-known Montreal-based tech incubator. This was our first step in welcoming many happy guests for this new event format. We are proud to share the work of the evening’s presenters.
Our guest Raky Hanne Ly, the lovely founder of RHL Creations, talked about how she decided to turn her passion for African traditional gemstones into a business. Géraldine Jippé also covered a very short summary of the African innovation (r)evolution and Rachael Golem, Lawyer at Dentons, shared some tips for protecting intellectual property for startups.
Parker Mah, host of World Skip the Beat on CKUT 90.3 FM, presented a couple of artists from the African diaspora who are forging innovative new musical paths in urban music, as well as a few web platforms that are forming a new horizon for music promotion and collaboration in Africa.
